چکیده
Copper is a frequently used heavy metal worldwide and known to be an essential micronutrient for most living organisms including plants. However, excessive levels of copper in soil may adversely affect plant growth survival. The continuing introduction soil, e.g., through utilization agrochemicals has raised serious environmental concerns throughout the world. A variety plants have capability eliminate pollutants from different mechanisms; however, limited information reported on phytoremediation potential maize (Zea mays L.) its uptake accumulation copper-containing soils. effects additions 0, 50, 100, 200 300 mg kg?1 parameters Z. mays, roots shoots, were investigated this research. content samples determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. addition 50 Cu stimulated parameters, while higher exhibited inhibitory growth. Results indicated that accumulated significantly than shoots all treatments, suggesting dominancy phytostabilization mechanism remediation Cu-polluted by mays. translocation aerial parts enhanced some extent with level soil. greatest capacity 5210 µg per pot was gained cultivated treated copper. demonstrated can promisingly remediate low moderately copper-contaminated

Phytoremediation Potential of Maize (Zea mays L.). A Review
In most developing parts of the world, the rapid expansion of industrial areas leading to uncontrolled processing and utilization of industrial products, agricultural inputs, vehicular emissions and improper disposal of liquid and solid wastes may cause soil to become contaminated with chemical hazards such as heavy metals. Heavy metal contamination of soil may pose risks to humans and the ecos...
متن کاملMaize (Zea mays L.).
Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
متن کاملEffect Of Copper And Cadmium On Germination And Anatomical Structure Of Leaf And Root Seedling In Maize (Zea mays L)
The aim of this work was to study the effect of copper (Cu) and/or cadmium (Cd) on grain germination and anatomical structure of Maize (Zea mays cv. Giza 2) seedling. The results indicated that Cu and/or Cd caused reduced the grain germination indices (FGP final germination percentage, MDG mean daily germination, GI germination index and CVG coefficient of velocity of germination), root anatomi...
متن کاملInteractive studies of potassium and copper with cadmium on seed germination and early seedling growth in maize (Zea mays L.).
In the present study a novel approach has been made to evaluate the toxicity of cadmium in maize (Zea mays L. cv KJ9451) in terms of germination, seedling growth, pigment development and relevant enzyme activity and the possible remedial approach using potassium and copper to reduce cadmium toxicity. For the present investigations maize seeds were sown in petridishes on filter paper in triplica...
متن کاملEvaluation of two Brazilian indigenous plants for phytostabilization and phytoremediation of copper-contaminated soils.
AbstractIndigenous plants have been grown naturally and vigorously in copper contaminated soils. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the phytoremediation ability of two indigenous plants naturally grown in two vineyard soils copper contaminated, and in a copper mining waste. However, it was evaluated the macro and micronutrient uptake and the potential of phytoremediation. So, a greenho...
